TREATMENT PROTOCOLE

Some of the treatments are the following:
SNEHA PANAM

Medicated ghee is administered internally beginning with fewer dosages and then daily increasing the dose.

ABHYANGAM

Special kerala soothing whole body massage done in a synchronized manner by two attendants for 45 to 60 minutes.

Indication: General body relaxation, tones up muscles and nerves. Done as a relaxing method before all major Ayurvedic treatments

ELAKIZHI (Pathra potala swedam)

Herbal leaves and pieces of lemon, coconut scrapes etc fried in specified oils and made into boluses and massage is done with them, either locally or full body for 45 to 60 minutes.

Indication: Effective in arthritis and Neuro muscular pain and numbness.

PODIKIZHI (Churna pinda swedam)

Various herbal powders are made into boluses and heated in a vessel with specified oils and massage is done with them, either locally or full body.

Indication: Gives good result in pain and joint swellings, neuromuscular diseases.

MANAL KIZHI (Valuka swedam)
Clean and filtered sand is used for making the boluses and heated and applied on the affected area.

Indication: Very effective in rheumatoid arthritis and other joint swellings

NJAVARA KIZHI (Shashtika pinda swedam)

Here boluses are made with a special type of rice called Njavara (Shashtika Sali) processed with herbs and milk and used for massage for 45 to 75 minutes.

Indication: Musculo skeletal diseases and Neurological conditions.

AVAGAHA SWEDAM (Seitz bath)

This is a fomentation procedure in which a Luke warm decoction is made with VATA-alleviating-herbs and poured in a tub of specified shape and size. The patient is made to sit in it for about 15mts - 20mts.

Indication: Low back pain, Dysuria, Gas problems, Piles, various gynecological disorders, etc.

UPANAHA SWEDAM

Fomentation is done by applying herbal paste in joints or affected area.

Indication: Gives good result in painful and inflammatory joint swellings.

NALEE SWEDAM

Medicated milk is boiled and the steam is applied over the affected area (Commonly the face).

Indication: Gives good result in Facial paralysis, sinusitis, ENT disorders.

PIZHICHIL

Pouring of medicated oil for 45 minutes to 75 minutes in a specified manner all over the body. It is one of the major and important treatment for alleviating VATA.

Indication: All joint related and neuro muscular diseases.

SIRO DHARA

Continuous pouring of medicated oil on the forehead of patient for 45 to 60 minutes. This can be done with medicated buttermilk (TAKRA DHARA) or medicated Milk (KSHEERA DHARA) in specific diseases.

Indication: Most relaxing and neuro stimulant. Good for diseases of head, ENT and Eye. Takradhara is specially indicated in Psoriasis and Chronic skin disorders

VAMANAM

After preparatory procedures, patient is made to drink 2- 3 liters of milk/Sugarcane juice/ Luke warm water and after that the emetic drug is administered. This procedure is called controlled Emesis Therapy.

Benefits: Very beneficial for Kapha imbalances, such as Asthma, Cough, Psoriasis and Other skin diseases.

VIRECHANAM

After preparatory procedures, patient is given special drugs for purgation and asked to take Luke warm water in regular intervals. Patient evacuates for 5 to 10 times and this procedure is called controlled purgation therapy.

Benefits: Alleviates excess Pitta in the body and helps to treat Dermatitis, Chronic fever, Heartburn and Jaundice.

NASYAM

The face, head, shoulder & neck are massaged with specified herbal medicated oils followed with steam inhalation and administration of the medicine through nostrils as nasal drops in a specified quantity.

Benefits: Highly effective in headache, sinusitis, and migraine.

SNEHA VASTHY

This is administration of medicated oil or medicated ghee as enema. This treatment to be done before Kashaya vasthy to make the intestine smooth.

KASHAYA VASTHY

After preparatory procedures medicated decoction – mixture is administered as enema. This procedure is very much important in the treatment of Rheumatic problems, Neuro muscular diseases, and Muscle wasting conditions. It helps to cure even very chronic diseases and also to build up Immunity.
